Reacting to Activity and Updates
When people in your libraries reach a reading milestone or join a plan, their activity shows up in the Activity Feed at the bottom of your Home page. A quick reaction is an easy way to cheer them on.
What Shows Up in the Feed
Section titled “What Shows Up in the Feed”The Activity Feed is a stream of activity from people in libraries you share. You’ll see things like:
- Someone started or finished a book
- Someone hit 25%, 50%, or 75% of a book
- Someone joined or completed a reading plan
- A library launched a new reading plan
- A new member joined a library
- A library admin featured a book
Loan activity (requests, pickups, returns) is kept private and never appears in the feed.
The Three Reactions
Section titled “The Three Reactions”Tap the smiley face on any reactable activity card to pick one of three reactions:
| Reaction | When to Use |
|---|---|
| Like | A general thumbs-up — “I see this.” |
| Love | Something resonates with you. |
| Celebrate | A finish, a milestone, a big win. |
You can add more than one reaction to the same activity — for example, both Love and Celebrate when a friend finishes a long book.
Who Sees Your Reaction
Section titled “Who Sees Your Reaction”Reactions follow the same visibility rules as the activity itself. If you can see the activity, your reaction is visible to everyone else who can see it. Reaction counts appear as small pills on the card; tap a pill to see exactly who reacted with that type.
The person who posted the activity also gets a notification (push and in-app), so they’ll know you cheered them on. Reactions to your own activity don’t notify you.
Undoing a Reaction
Section titled “Undoing a Reaction”To remove a reaction, tap the same reaction again — it toggles off. You can change reactions any time.
Hiding Activity From Your Feed
Section titled “Hiding Activity From Your Feed”If you’d rather not see your own activity in the shared feed, you have two options:
- One activity at a time — tap the ⋯ menu on any of your activity cards and choose Delete from feed.
- All at once — turn off Visible to Library Members in Settings → Privacy. This hides your profile and stops new activity from being shared.
You can also turn off reaction notifications in Settings → Notifications under social updates if they get noisy.
