Privacy and Your Data
Learn how Agathos Books handles your personal information and how you can control your privacy. For the full legal policy, see our Privacy Policy.
What We Collect

- Display name — Shown to library members
- Profile photo — Optional, shown to library members
Library Activity
Section titled “Library Activity”- Books you own — Your personal collection
- Libraries you’ve joined — Membership records
- Lending history — Books borrowed and lent
- Reading activity — Books you’ve marked as reading/finished
Technical Data
Section titled “Technical Data”- Device and connection details — Browser, platform, and similar signals needed for notifications, security, and troubleshooting
- Reliability data — Error and performance logs to keep the app running smoothly
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who Sees Your Information

- Your profile photo
- Books you’ve shared with their library
- Your reliability score
- Reading activity you’ve chosen to share
Library Members Don’t See

- Your personal book collection (unless shared)
- Your activity in other libraries
- Private notes on books
Library Admins Additionally See

- Lending activity within their library

Privacy Controls
Section titled “Privacy Controls”Show Profile
Section titled “Show Profile”One toggle in Settings → Privacy controls your profile and reading activity visibility:
- On — Library members can view your profile and see your reading milestones in activity feeds
- Off — Your profile is hidden and your reading milestones stay off the activity feed
When you turn it off, we’ll ask if you also want to hide past reading activity from other members’ feeds.
Minors
Section titled “Minors”Users ages 13–17 default to a hidden profile (private) and can have a supervising parent or guardian who controls the visibility toggle. See Supervision for Minors.
Profile Scope
Section titled “Profile Scope”Your profile is only visible to members of libraries you’ve joined. People outside your libraries cannot find you by searching.
Your Account Data
Section titled “Your Account Data”View and update
Section titled “View and update”You can view and change most account information in Settings (profile, privacy, and notification preferences).
Delete your account
Section titled “Delete your account”You can permanently delete your account in the app. See Deleting your account for requirements and steps.
If you cannot complete deletion (for example, blocked by active loans), contact support for help finishing the process.
Library data export
Section titled “Library data export”Library owners on eligible subscription plans can export library books, loans, and member lists (CSV) from Library Settings → Advanced. This is library operational data, not a personal account export.
Other privacy requests
Section titled “Other privacy requests”For rights under applicable privacy laws (such as access requests where required), see our Privacy Policy and contact us using the instructions there.
Third-Party Services
Section titled “Third-Party Services”We use trusted third-party services for:
- Email and SMS delivery — Authentication codes and notifications
- Book data — To look up book information when you add books
- Image hosting — To store book covers and profile photos
- Error monitoring — To diagnose crashes and performance issues
These services only receive the minimum data needed for their function.
Security
Section titled “Security”- Encrypted connections — All data transmitted over HTTPS
- Secure storage — Data stored with encryption at rest
- No passwords — We use email/SMS verification, not passwords
- Session management — Automatic logout after extended inactivity
