Notification Preferences

Control how and when you receive notifications about loan requests, due dates, and library activity.

Accessing Notification Settings

  1. Tap your profile icon
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Select Notifications

Notification Types

Section titled “Notification Types”

Lending Notifications

Section titled “Lending Notifications”
  • Loan requests — When someone wants to borrow your book
  • Loan approved — When your borrow request is approved
  • Book ready for pickup — When a book is waiting for you
  • Due date reminders — 3 days before and on the due date
  • Overdue notices — When a borrowed book is past due
  • Return confirmations — When a loan is completed

Library Notifications

Section titled “Library Notifications”
  • Join requests — When someone requests to join your library (admins)
  • New members — When someone joins a library you manage
  • Library invitations — When you’re invited to join a library

Reading Notifications

Section titled “Reading Notifications”
  • Reading plan updates — Progress on plans you’ve joined
  • Recommended books — Books suggested by library admins

Delivery Methods

Section titled “Delivery Methods”

Choose how you receive each notification type:

PushTime-sensitive alerts (loan requests, pickups)
EmailDetailed notifications, summaries
In-appAll activity, viewed when you open the app

You can enable multiple methods per notification type.

Adjusting Notification Settings

Section titled “Adjusting Notification Settings”

For each notification type:

  1. Find the notification category
  2. Toggle Push, Email, or In-app on/off
  3. Changes save automatically

Quiet Hours

Section titled “Quiet Hours”

Avoid notifications during sleeping hours:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Quiet Hours
  2. Enable Quiet Hours
  3. Set your quiet period (e.g., 10 PM - 8 AM)

During quiet hours:

  • Push notifications are held until quiet hours end
  • In-app notifications still appear (silently)
  • Urgent notifications (like recalls) may still come through

Email Frequency

Section titled “Email Frequency”

Control how often you receive email notifications:

  • Instant — Each notification sends immediately
  • Daily digest — One email summarizing the day’s activity
  • Weekly digest — One email summarizing the week

Daily and weekly digests reduce inbox clutter while keeping you informed.

Muting Specific Libraries

Section titled “Muting Specific Libraries”

Need a break from one library without leaving it?

  1. Open the library
  2. Tap Settings → Notifications
  3. Toggle off notifications for that library

You’ll still see activity when you visit the library, but won’t receive push or email notifications.

Tips

Section titled “Tips”
  • Keep loan notifications on — Missing a pickup window affects your reliability score
  • Use digests for less urgent items — Like new book recommendations
