Managing Supervised Accounts

Create supervised accounts for children or family members who need parental oversight on their reading and lending activities.

Supervised accounts let you:

  • Create accounts for children without their own email/phone
  • Monitor their reading and borrowing activity
  • Approve or restrict certain actions
  • Manage their library memberships

The supervising adult maintains control while the child can use Agathos Books independently.

  1. Go to SettingsFamily
  2. Tap Add Family Member
  3. Enter the child’s name
  4. Choose their age range
  5. Set supervision preferences
  6. Tap Create Account

The new account is linked to yours and appears in your Family settings.

  • View reading history — See what books they’ve read
  • Approve reading plans — Require your approval before they join plans
  • Allow borrowing — Let them request books from libraries
  • Require approval — You must approve each borrow request
  • Allow lending — Let them share their books (if they have any)
  • Auto-join family libraries — Automatically add them to libraries you manage
  • Require approval for new libraries — You approve before they can join other libraries

To use the app as a supervised family member:

  1. Tap your profile icon
  2. Tap Switch Account
  3. Select the family member

To switch back, tap the profile icon and select your main account.

When a child is ready for their own account:

  1. Go to SettingsFamily
  2. Tap the family member’s name
  3. Tap Convert to Independent Account
  4. They’ll set up their own email or phone for sign-in

If you no longer need a supervised account:

  1. Go to SettingsFamily
  2. Tap the family member’s name
  3. Tap Delete Account
  4. Confirm deletion

This removes all their data, including reading history and library memberships.

  • Start with borrowing approval — Let young readers get comfortable before giving full independence
  • Join libraries together — Share the reading experience by joining the same libraries
