Deleting your library
If you want to step back without deleting:
- Transfer ownership — In Admin portal → Settings → Advanced, use Transfer Ownership to hand the library to another member (they are promoted to admin if needed). You remain an admin; billing and owner-only settings move to them. See Understanding member roles.
- Delegate without transferring — Promote trusted members to admin and let them handle day-to-day work while you stay owner (including billing).
- Switch to Private — In Admin portal → Settings → Discoverability, set visibility to Private so the library no longer appears in public search and new people cannot request to join. Existing members keep access; use invitations when you are ready to add people again. See Library types and visibility.
Before you delete
Section titled “Before you delete”Some requirements must be met first:
- Cancel paid plan — If you have a subscription that still auto-renews, cancel it first under Settings → Plan & billing. After cancellation is scheduled, you can delete even if you still have paid time left — the plan will not renew.
- Active loans on library-owned books — Finish or cancel any in-progress loans on books the library owns.
Only the library owner can delete a library (not admins). Deletion is permanent after a 90-day grace period — members lose access right away, but support may be able to restore the library if you contact them within those 90 days.
How to delete
Section titled “How to delete”- Open Admin portal.
- Go to Settings.
- Open Advanced (danger zone at the bottom).
- Tap Delete library and follow the prompts — you must type the library name exactly to confirm.
