Leaving a Library

You can leave any library you’ve joined at any time. Here’s what to know before you go.

How to Leave a Library

Open the library you want to leave
Tap Settings
Scroll to the bottom and tap Leave Library
Confirm your decision

Before You Leave

Return all borrowed books first. You cannot leave a library if you have any active loans—either books you’re borrowing or books you’ve lent to other members. Complete or cancel these loans before leaving.

Your shared books will be removed. Any personal books you’ve shared with the library will be automatically removed from the library’s collection when you leave. The books stay in your personal collection—they’re just no longer available to borrow in that library.

What Happens When You Leave

You immediately lose access to the library
Your shared books are removed from the library
You’re removed from any reading plans in that library
Your borrowing history with that library is preserved (you can still see past loans)

Rejoining a Library

Public libraries: You can request to join again at any time. Your request will go through the normal approval process.

Private libraries: You’ll need a new invitation from the library owner or an admin.

Library Owners

Owners cannot leave their library. If you created the library and want to stop managing it, you have two options:

Delete the library if it’s no longer needed
Keep the library and let admins handle day-to-day management

Ownership cannot be transferred to another person.
