Searching for Books
Find books by title, author, or ISBN using the search feature in Agathos Books.
Searching When Adding Books
Section titled “Searching When Adding Books”To find a book to add to your collection:
- Tap Add Books in the navigation
- Select the Search tab
- Type the book title, author name, or ISBN
- Tap a result to view details and add it

Searching Your Collection
Section titled “Searching Your Collection”To find books you already own:
- Go to My Books
- Tap the search icon at the top
- Type your search term
- Results filter as you type
Your personal collection is searched first, showing matches from your books.
Searching a Library
Section titled “Searching a Library”To find books in a library you’ve joined:
- Open the library
- Tap the search icon
- Search by title, author, or browse by category
Library search shows all books available in that library, including who owns each copy and whether it’s available to borrow.
Search Tips

Section titled “Finding the Right Book”- Use specific titles — “The Hobbit” finds better results than “Hobbit”
- Try author’s last name — “Lewis” is often enough to find C.S. Lewis books
- Use ISBN for exact matches — The 13-digit number on the barcode
Filtering Results
Section titled “Filtering Results”When viewing search results:
- Sort by relevance, title, or author
- Filter by availability (for library searches)
- Browse categories if you’re not sure what you’re looking for
ISBN Search
Section titled “ISBN Search”For the most accurate results, search by ISBN:
- Find the ISBN on the book (usually on the back cover or copyright page)
- Enter the 10 or 13-digit number
- The exact book edition will appear
ISBN search is especially useful for:
- Finding specific editions or printings
- Adding books that have common titles
- Verifying you’re adding the correct version
- Start with the title — It’s usually the fastest way to find a book
- Use the scanner for physical books — Barcode scanning is faster than typing
