Deleting Your Account

You can permanently delete your Agathos Books account at any time. Here’s what happens and how to do it.

When you delete your account:

  • Your profile and personal information
  • Your book collection records
  • Your lending history
  • Your library memberships
  • Your reading activity
  • Your favorites and tags
  • Books you’ve shared are removed from all libraries
  • Libraries you own will need to be deleted or transferred first
  • Active loans must be completed before deletion
  • Other people’s records of borrowing your books remain in their history
  • Library activity logs may retain anonymized records of transactions

You cannot delete your account if you have:

  1. Active loans — Return any books you’ve borrowed
  2. Books currently lent out — Wait for borrowers to return your books
  3. Libraries you own — Delete your libraries first (see below)

If you supervise any minor accounts, you can still delete your account. Supervision ends automatically and each supervised minor is notified in the app. They keep their account and regain control of profile visibility settings.

If you own any libraries, you must delete them before deleting your account:

  1. Open each library you own via Manage Library
  2. Go to SettingsAdvancedDelete library
  3. Confirm deletion (cancel any auto-renewing paid plan in Plan & billing first if prompted)

See Deleting your library for full steps and requirements.

Libraries are soft-deleted with a 90-day recovery window. You can proceed with account deletion even while libraries are in this recovery period.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Account
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
  4. Read the information about what will be deleted
  5. Type “DELETE” to confirm
  6. Tap Permanently Delete Account
  • You’ll be signed out immediately
  • You won’t be able to sign back in
  • Your email/phone can be used to create a new account (starting fresh)
  • Library members won’t see your profile anymore

Account deletion is permanent. There is no recovery period or undo option once confirmed.

If you’re unsure, consider:

  • Taking a break — Just stop using the app; your data stays intact
  • Leaving libraries — Leave libraries but keep your personal collection
