Finding and Joining a Library

Already know someone with a library? You can search for nearby libraries or join one through an invitation link.

  1. Tap Browse in the bottom navigation
  2. Tap Discover Libraries
  3. Allow location access when prompted (or enter your ZIP code manually)
  4. Browse libraries in your area

Each library card shows:

  • Library name and type (church, school, family, community)
  • Distance from you
  • Number of members
  • Number of books

Tap any library to see more details before requesting to join.

Public libraries (like church or community libraries) allow anyone nearby to request membership.

  1. Tap on a library to view its details
  2. Browse the book collection to see if it’s a good fit
  3. Tap Request to Join
  4. Optionally add a message introducing yourself
  5. Tap Send Request

The library admin will review your request and either approve or decline it. You’ll get a notification either way—most requests are approved within a day or two.

For private libraries (like family libraries), you’ll need an invitation from the library owner.

If you received an email invitation:

  1. Open the email from Agathos Books
  2. Tap Accept Invitation
  3. Sign in or create an account if needed
  4. You’re in! The library will appear in your library list

If you received a shareable link (text message, group chat, social media):

  1. Tap the link — it shows a branded card with the library name in your messages
  2. Sign in or create an account if needed
  3. Depending on how the admin set up the link:
    • Direct join links: You’re automatically added to the library
    • Browse-first links: Your request is sent to the admin for approval

Once you’ve joined a library:

  • Browse the collection — See what books are available to borrow
  • Request a book — Find something you’d like to read and request to borrow it
  • Add your own books — Share your personal books with the library (optional)
  • Can’t find a library? The library might be private (invitation-only) or outside your search radius. Ask the library owner to send you an invitation link.
  • Request pending? Library admins are volunteers—give them a day or two to review your request.
  • Joined multiple libraries? Use the library filter on your home screen to switch between them.
