Common Error Messages
Here’s what common error messages mean and how to fix them.
Connection Errors
Section titled “Connection Errors””Unable to connect” / “Network error”
Section titled “”Unable to connect” / “Network error””What it means: The app can’t reach our servers.
How to fix:
- Check your internet connection (try loading a website)
- Switch between WiFi and cellular data
- Wait a moment and try again
- If the problem persists, our servers may be temporarily down—try again later
”Request timed out”
Section titled “”Request timed out””What it means: The server is taking too long to respond.
How to fix:
- Check your internet connection
- Try again—the server may have been briefly busy
- If repeated, try again in a few minutes
Account Errors
Section titled “Account Errors””Invalid verification code”
Section titled “”Invalid verification code””What it means: The code you entered doesn’t match what we sent.
How to fix:
- Check that you entered the most recent code (codes expire after 10 minutes)
- Make sure there are no extra spaces
- Request a new code and try again
”Email/phone already in use”
Section titled “”Email/phone already in use””What it means: This email or phone number is already registered.
How to fix:
- Try signing in instead of creating a new account
- If you forgot which account you used, try the “Forgot?” flow
- If you believe this is an error, contact support
Library Errors
Section titled “Library Errors””You don’t have permission”
Section titled “”You don’t have permission””What it means: You’re trying to do something that requires a higher role (like admin actions as a regular member).
How to fix:
- Check if you’re in the right library
- Contact a library admin if you need elevated permissions

”Library not found”
Section titled “”Library not found””What it means: The library you’re trying to access doesn’t exist or has been deleted.
How to fix:
- The library may have been deleted by its owner
- Check if you have the correct library link
- Ask the library owner if you expected to have access
Lending Errors
Section titled “Lending Errors””Book not available”
Section titled “”Book not available””What it means: All copies of this book are currently borrowed.
How to fix:
- Join the waitlist to be notified when it’s available
- Check if other members have copies they might share
”Cannot leave library with active loans”
Section titled “”Cannot leave library with active loans””What it means: You have books borrowed or lent that need to be returned first.
How to fix:
- Return any books you’ve borrowed from this library
- Wait for any books you’ve lent to be returned
- Then try leaving again
”Cannot remove book with active loan”
Section titled “”Cannot remove book with active loan””What it means: Someone is currently borrowing this book.
How to fix:
- Wait for the borrower to return the book
- Or recall the book if you need it urgently (allows 7 days)
Scanner Errors
Section titled “Scanner Errors””Camera permission denied”
Section titled “”Camera permission denied””What it means: The app doesn’t have permission to use your camera.

”No camera found”
Section titled “”No camera found””What it means: Your device doesn’t have a camera or it’s not accessible.
How to fix:
- Make sure no other app is using the camera
- Use the search feature instead of scanning
General Errors
Section titled “General Errors””Something went wrong”
Section titled “”Something went wrong””What it means: An unexpected error occurred.
How to fix:
- Try the action again
- Refresh the page or restart the app
- If it keeps happening, note what you were doing and contact support
”Session expired”
Section titled “”Session expired””What it means: You’ve been signed out due to inactivity.
How to fix:
- Sign in again
- Your data is safe; you’ll pick up where you left off
Reporting Errors
Section titled “Reporting Errors”If you see an error not listed here or can’t resolve it:
- Note the exact error message
- Note what you were trying to do when it appeared
- Take a screenshot if possible
- Contact support with these details
