Curation Standards
Every book is evaluated for doctrinal soundness, moral purity, truthfulness, and genuine benefit to readers.
Our Curation Philosophy
At Agathos Books, we believe that God's truth, beauty, and wisdom are evident throughout creation—not only in explicitly Christian works, but in all works that align with His truth as revealed in Scripture and creation.
A biology textbook that accurately describes God's creation, a leadership book grounded in biblical principles, or a classic novel exploring the human condition can all be "good" books that belong in a Christian library.
This common grace perspective allows us to curate a rich, diverse collection while maintaining the standards that protect our community and honor God.
Four Criteria for Every Book
We evaluate every book against these four standards to ensure quality and alignment with our values.
Sound
Does it align with core biblical doctrine? We welcome books from various Christian traditions while avoiding content that contradicts essential Christian teaching.
"Does it teach heresy or contradict Scripture?"
Pure
Does it promote wholesome content? We look for books that honor God in their treatment of morality, relationships, and lifestyle without glorifying sin.
"Does it glorify or normalize sinful behavior?"
True
Does it reflect reality honestly? We value accuracy in non-fiction and authenticity in fiction, avoiding propaganda and deliberate misinformation.
"Is it honest, accurate, and fair?"
Beneficial
Does it equip readers? We look for books that provide real value—whether spiritual growth, practical skills, historical knowledge, or creative inspiration.
"Does it equip readers with wisdom for godly living?"

Plus Explicitly Christian Content
Our catalog includes a rich collection of Christian resources for spiritual growth:
Our Boundaries
To protect our community—especially children and families—we do not include certain types of content.
We carefully exclude content that would undermine our mission to provide wholesome, values-aligned resources for Christian families and communities:
- ×Content contradicting core Christian doctrine
Including heretical teaching that leads readers away from biblical truth
- ×Sexual immorality or explicit content
Including explicit romance, erotica, or graphic sexual content
- ×LGBTQ+ affirmation or gender ideology
Content that contradicts biblical teaching on sexuality and gender
- ×Occult, witchcraft, or dark spirituality
Content promoting or practicing spiritual darkness
- ×Gratuitous violence or horror glorifying evil
Content that celebrates darkness rather than light
- ×Anti-Christian propaganda
Content designed to undermine faith or attack Christianity
Note: These boundaries reflect our commitment to biblical values and our responsibility to serve families with children. We recognize that faithful Christians may disagree on some secondary matters, and we aim to be gracious while maintaining clear standards.
Our Review Process
Every book on our platform goes through a thoughtful review process.
Initial Review
When a book is submitted or discovered, it goes through an initial screening against our four criteria: Sound, Pure, True, and Beneficial.
Category Assessment
Books are evaluated against category-specific guidelines. A children's book has different requirements than a history text or theological work.
Human Oversight
Borderline cases receive human review from our team. We prioritize accuracy and fairness in every decision.
Ongoing Quality
Our catalog is continuously refined. Community feedback helps us improve our curation and catch any books that may have been miscategorized.
Questions About a Specific Book?
